FIFA banned Bwalya from all football-related activities at the national and international levels for two years in August of 2018. The FIFA adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee found him guilty of violating FIFA Code of Ethics articles 16 and 20.

Bwalya was a member of the national squad that competed in the 1988 Olympic Games, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory over Italy. From 1983 to 2004, he featured in 87 international matches and scored 39 goals for his country. He made his debut against Sudan in a Cup of Nations qualification at Dag Hammarskjold Stadium in Ndola in April 1983 and scored his first goal against Uganda the following year at the same location. He has competed in numerous events, including six African Cup of Nations editions.
Club Career
Bwalya’s European career began in Cercle Brugge, Belgium. He was the club’s leading scorer in his first season and was twice chosen supporters’ player of the year.
