He transferred his training to the National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Patiala, where he studied with instructor Samarjeet Singh Malhi and significantly improved his technique. Kishore Kumar was born on September 6, 1995, in the hamlet of Kothasahi in the Brahmagiri region of Puri district, Odisha, India. His astrological sign is Virgo. In 2015, he relocated to the Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel and began training with Nila Madhab Panda. He was astounded by his development after throwing the javelin for the first time over 80 meters and stated that he believed it was impossible. Jena earned silver at the national championships in Bhubaneshwar in June 2023. Jena recorded his second-best throw at Diyagama, Sri Lanka, on July 30, 2023, with a distance of 84.38m. He threw his then-personal best of 84.77m in the Javelin Throw Final and came fifth in the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August 2023, overcoming initial difficulty in obtaining visa permission from officials. He earned the silver medal in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou on October 4, 2023, with a personal record throw of 87.54m.
