His father, John Salasya, died in 2007 while Peter was in Form Two, leaving him and his brothers in the care of their mother, a peasant farmer. Salasya attended Shianderema Primary School and earned his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2005. He then enrolled at Lubinu Boys High School, where he earned his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2009. He was an enthusiastic student who engaged in a variety of extracurricular activities, including drama, music, and football.
