Braugher was born on July 1, 1962, in Chicago, the youngest of four children to Sally, a postal worker, and Floyd Braugher, a heavy equipment operator. Andre died at the age of 61. He was reared on Chicago’s West Side in the Austin neighborhood. Andre attended St. Ignatius College Prep before graduating from Stanford University with a B.A. in drama in 1984.
