Durante, a native of Davao, graduated from the 1992 class of the Philippine Military Academy Tanglaw Diwa. He has a master’s degree in public management with a concentration in development security from the Development Academy of the Philippines and in defense analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in California, both in the United States.
