Early Career
She later worked for Bradley Precast Concrete Inc. and the Minnesota Department of Transportation in the private sector in Minnesota. Ireti served at the headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force base in Ikeja, Lagos, from 1981 to 1982, where she handled a water project. She worked for a construction business in Kaduna from 1982 until 1985. Kingibe was appointed chair of the Leadership Newspapers Group in 2014, a post she would relinquish later that year to pursue her political ambitions.
Political Career
Kingibe has run for senator on many occasions. She was the All Nigeria Peoples Party’s candidate for the Federal Capital Territory in 2003, however, she lost the election. She ran as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2006 and 2011 but did not make it through the primaries. Because of concerns with the primary elections, Kingibe resigned from the 2014 senate run and quit the Peoples Democratic Party at the same time. She stood for the All Progressives Congress in 2015, and while she did not make it beyond the primaries, she campaigned for President Muhammadu Buhari. In 2018, she ran for re-election to the Senate.
She joined the Labour Party in 2022 and ran for senator for the Federal Capital Territory in the Nigerian general elections in 2023.
