Jovia Mutesi was born on June 15, 1992, in Uganda’s Mayuge area. Mutesi is a fervent Christian and a member of the Ugandan Anglican Church. Jovia Mutesi received her secondary education at St. Mary’s College Namagunga, a prominent girls’ boarding school in the Mukono region. She excelled in academics and extracurricular activities and was named senior class president. She graduated with honors in 2009 and was accepted to Makerere Institution, Uganda’s oldest and largest public institution.

As an associate, she joined Katende, Ssempebwa & Company Advocates, one of Uganda’s major legal firms, in 2016. She was an expert in business and commercial law, as well as civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Jovia worked with a wide range of customers, including local and international corporations, banks, and individuals. She also did pro bono work and coached new attorneys.
