She got onto his bed, flung him over him, and repeatedly whacked him in the head with a wrench. Kathy then got down from him, had a bath, unplugged the bedroom clocks, and departed with his clothing and laptop. She also handed over a photograph of Collins that was on the nightstand.
The next morning, Herndon’s mother, who lived with him, realized that he had not awoken. She entered his bedroom and discovered him lying on his bed, bloodied. She phoned 911, and cops arrived on the spot. They decided that Herndon was killed and launched an inquiry.
