Who is Minga Sherpa IAS
Minga Sherpa is a 2017 batch IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre, originally from Darjeeling, West Bengal. He is now the Deputy Commissioner of Dibang Valley District in Arunachal Pradesh. He was assigned to the AGMUT cadre and received training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie. He also got the Best Officer Trainee Award in the 93rd Foundation Course. Minga began his career as an Assistant Collector in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in 2018. He was assigned to numerous departments, including Revenue, Disaster Management, Tribal Welfare, and Tourism. He also managed the COVID-19 crisis on the islands, ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.
In 2020, he was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh and appointed as Deputy Commissioner of the Dibang Valley District. He assumed control of the region, which is one of the most isolated and inaccessible locations in the country. He encountered several hurdles, including inadequate road access, a lack of basic services, regular landslides, and insurgency. Minga had to cope with the border conflict with China, as well as the surge of Myanmar refugees. He also demonstrated remarkable courage and leadership amid the district’s natural disasters and catastrophes. Minga IAS oversaw the rescue and relief efforts, as well as the timely delivery of critical supplies and services. He also worked with the army, police, and civic society to preserve law and order.
