Quincy Jones, the legendary musician known for his 75-year career as an artist, bandleader, composer, arranger, and producer, has passed away at the age of 91. Quincy Delight Jones Jr. (March 14, 1933 – November 3, 2024) passed away on Sunday night at his home in Bel-Air, Los Angeles, according to a statement from his representative, Arnold Robinson. The cause of death has not been revealed.

His career lasted over 75 years, during which he won 28 Grammy Awards out of 80 nominations. He also received the Grammy Legend Award in 1992. Quincy Jones was best known for producing Michael Jackson’s Thriller album.

Jones was married three times and has seven children with five different women.

Jones’ publicist, Arnold Robinson, stated that he “passed away peacefully” on Sunday night at his home in Bel Air.

During his career, which lasted over 75 years, he won 28 Grammy Awards and was recognized by Time magazine as one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century.

Quincy Jones composed the soundtracks for more than 50 films and TV shows, including In the Heat of the Night, The Color Purple, and The Italian Job.

Early in his career, Quincy Delight Jones Jr. worked closely with Frank Sinatra and rearranged Sinatra’s classic Fly Me to the Moon, changing it from a waltz to a swing style.

On the film ‘The Wiz’, Jones collaborated with a 19-year-old Michael Jackson.

He was born Quincy Delight Jones Jr. in Chicago and began playing the trumpet, his main instrument, as a child. When he was 10, his family moved to Seattle, where he met 17-year-old Ray Charles while he was still a novice musician at the age of 14.
